The Unicorn Shawl is a semi-circular (half pi) shawl, worked from top to bottom. The shawl is interspersed with two sections, one in smooth stockinette stitch and the other in seafoam stitch. The latter gets bigger and bigger as you go along, ending with a wave edge built with yarnovers and decreases. You can make two versions of this shawl: one short and one long, depending on your taste (the instructions given in the pattern in terms of amount of yarn, final measurements and gauge refer exclusively to the long version). The short version may be recommended if you wish to use a thicker yarn. You will need 5mm circular needles (with an 80cm cable), a sewing needle and 200g of 4 ply yarn or sock yarn Final measurements are approximately 200cm x 85cm.
The willow shawl is knitted with a delicate 4 ply hand dyed yarn. It starts off with garter stitch then moves on to stocking stitch before working easy lace sections to add detail and interest. Once finished, the shawl is blocked and dried to open up the lace sections and create a pretty open effect.
